Gold for Bailey, big night for Aqua Hawks at state
Bearden’s Garrett Bailey won the state championship in men’s 1-meter diving as the Louisville signee reached a point total of 469.75. Meanwhile, Farragut’s Olivia Kohl took 11th in the girls division with a total of 283.25.
In team results, Farragut came in 29th on the women’s side with Hardin Valley in 10th, Webb in 30th and Catholic tied with three other schools for 40th.
HVA took seventh on the men’s side with Concord Christian in 14th; Webb in 15th; Bearden 16th; and Farragut in 22nd.
In combined team scores, HVA took sixth at 186 with Webb at 11th (62 points) and Farragut at 15th (42 points).
The Aqua Hawks led the area with 10 top-10 finishes out of 24 events in total.
In the men’s 400-meter freestyle relay, HVA took eighth overall at 3:19.19 with Webb at 11th at 3:20.24, Bearden in 14th at 3:21.73 and Farragut in 15th at 3:23.55.
HVA finished in the same spot in the men’s 200-yard freestyle relay at 1:29.77 with Webb in 14th at 1:31.46 and Concord Christian after that at 1:32.04.
The Aqua Hawks also led
the area in the women’s 400-yard freestyle relay, finishing fifth at 3:35.77 with FHS in 11th at 3:46.03.
HVA took seventh in the women’s 200-yard medley relay at 1:48.93, while Hayden Hall and Landon Cleland finished third and sixth, respectively, in the men’s 100-yard freestyle.
Cleland also took 11th in the men’s 50-yard freestyle at 21.32 seconds while Hall proceeded to take bronze in the men’s 200-yard freestyle, as well, at 1:37.48. Behind him was Webb’s Dixon Hamilton, who came in seventh in that event with a fifth-place finish in the men’s 500-yard freestyle.
Farragut’s Garrett Roberts and Liam Finley took seventh and 13th in that event at 4:42.47 and 4:48.38, respectively, while Webb’s Sam Kowalski took 16th at 5:00.38.
In the men’s 200-yard medley relay, Bearden took 10th at 1:39.21 with Concord Christian in 12th at 1:39.43 and FHS in 15th at 1:43.05.
Concord Christian’s Landon Hall took second in the 100-yard breaststroke at 52.80 seconds, and he finished second in the men’s 200-yard individual medley at 1:46.55.
The women’s 200-yard individual medley saw HVA’s Emma Hackett claim 10th, and teammate Katelyn Dutrow took third in the women’s 500-yard freestyle and fifth in the women’s 200-yard freestyle.
CAK’s Annagail Herzog took 15th in the 500-yard freestyle and placed sixth in the women’s 100-yard butterfly.
Behind Dutrow in the women’s 200-yard freestyle were Webb’s Maggie Simpson at 12th and HVA’s Caroline Hackett in 15th.
Simpson also placed seventh in the women’a 100-yard backstroke at 57.02 seconds while Catholic’s Efrosini Kerny placed 13th in the 200-yard backstroke at 1:06.65.
