Mike Davis running for Knox County Sheriff
Davis started his law enforcement career with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) working in Corrections and then becoming a P.O.S.T. Certified deputy sheriff. He then worked as federal agent for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (D.E.A.) and retired after 26 years. Davis had top-secret security clearance for 26 years with extensive background checks, audits, random drug testing and health screenings throughout.
“I had to adhere to the highest standards and protocols, so when I speak about integrity, accountability and professionalism, they are not just talking points, I lived it,” he said.
Davis was blessed to have served the last 20+ years of his over 30-year career in law enforcement here in Knox County. “This is my home and I view the people of Knox County as my extended family. I will strive to keep you safe in your home, your schools and our community.”
As sheriff, Davis knows visibility of patrol cars and vigilant proactive policing deters crime. “Over my career I have seen the devastating effects narcotics has on our community and country,” he said. “It also influences secondary crime, such as property theft, traffic accidents, overdoses and human trafficking. It is a scourge and I have fought gangs and drug trafficking organizations to put these serious offenders in prison.”
Davis, by having an over 30-year career, knows the difficulties the men and women of law enforcement face. “I am not a part of any faction. As sheriff, I can be more objective, have greater discernment and unify the office. For me, it is about merit not favoritism,” he said.
“This is one of the most consequential elections in the history of KCSO. Knox County is experiencing explosive housing and population growth, a growing homeless population, a rise in criminal illegal aliens and the ever-increasing challenge of narcotic trafficking and gang activity,” Davis said. “Knox County needs a sheriff that embodies professionalism and integrity and places people over politics. I am that person. As your sheriff, I have the training, experience and passion to meet these challenges. It is a calling and I humbly ask for your vote.”
