Letter to the editor

Dear Editor:

I would like to express my support of Alderman Joe LaCroix. Even before he was appointed alderman last year to fill the unexpired term of the late David White, Joe had promised to keep his constituents informed, and one way was to hold public meetings twice a month prior to upcoming Board of Mayor and Aldermen meetings. He has kept that promise.

Additionally, Joe wrote a letter to the editor to the Farragut Press in March in which he was very positive and called for decorum and civility in the upcoming election. He wrote this letter in response to a citizen who complained to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen about perceived personal attacks against them. It is very clear that Joe was willing to entertain that notion and take action even though that person then went on to publicly attack Joe on social media for doing exactly what they asked him to do.

Joe is an informed, caring and knowledgeable Alderman and candidate for the South Ward. As a former Town employee, he has a unique perspective on how the Town operates, and he has insider knowledge on how best to address and solve problems. Joe embodies the concept of a candidate who wishes to help and serve the Town, which is what should be the driving force of any campaign.

It is an all-volunteer, unpaid position to serve on the Farragut Board of Mayor and Aldermen, and anyone who is brave enough to step up and serve should be supported and commended, not unfairly criticized by fellow candidates or anyone else who tries to run our Town from the sidelines.

Sincerely,

Michelle Hollenhead
