Knox County early voting enters final day
Knox County residents have one more day to vote early for candidates seeking county offices, as early voting ends Thursday, April 30.
Farragut residents can vote from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 29, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at Farragut Community Center, 239 Jamestowne Blvd. According to Chris Davis, Knox County Election administrator, the final day to request an absentee ballot was Saturday, April 25.
For the Tuesday, May 5, Primary election, “We’re relocating one of the precincts out of Farragut High School,” Davis said. “There are two precincts currently that vote at Farragut High School.”
He explained the Election Commission office
is splitting up the two precincts.
“We’re going to move one of those precincts to vote over at the Korean Church of Knoxville, 108 Farlow Drive, right in front of Costco [across the street],” he said.
It will be business as usual for other precincts.
With the Town election still to come in August, area residents are focusing on Knox County seats for the Primary election.
The winner of the Republican Primary in the mayoral race, whether that be County Commission At-Large Seat 10 Larsen Jay, 6th District School Board member Betsy Henderson or Commissioner At-Large Seat 11 Kim Frazier, will then run against Democrat Beau Hawk in the Aug. 6 General Election.
Candidates for the following County Commission offices, which are up for grabs, are: Gina Oster and Sheri Super, District 3; Barry Beeler, Buddy Burkhardt and Justin Mash
in District 7; Justin Cofer, Kimberly Glenn and Ronnie Rochelle for At-Large Seat 10; and Garrett Holt and Liz Tombras for At-large Seat 11.
Additionally, voters will decide on a new sheriff from the following Republican
candidates: David Amburn, Mike Davis, Brent Gibson and former sheriff, Jimmy “JJ” Jones.
Other offices include Republican candidates in the following offices: Richie Beeler,
John J. Duncan, Rodney Lane, John Whitehead for Knox County Clerk; Emily F. Abbott, 6th Judicial District 1 Criminal Court judge; Mike Hammond, Criminal Court Clerk; Justin Biggs, Barry Hawkins and Nick McBride for trustee; Andrea Kline and Rhonda Lee for Division V General Sessions judge; Charlie Susano, Circuit, Civil Sessions and Juvenile Court Clerk; Sherry Witt, Register of Deeds; and Board of
Education: Charles Frazier, District 1; Ashley Sartelle; District 4; Kevin Crateau, Lee Ann Eaves, Thierry Sommer in District 6; Steve Triplett, District 7; Kristi Kristy and Bill Sofield, District 9.
Democratic candidates are: Brandon Huckaby for County Commission District 3; William Cooper for County Commission District 7; Katrina Sharp for County Commission At-Large Seat 10; Vivian Underwood Shipe for County Commission At-Large Seat 11; Stephen Hood for trustee;
