Farragut principal inducted into UT Hall of Honor

Farragut Intermediate School executive principal Suzanne Parham recently was inducted into the prestigious Hall of Honor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, recognizing her exceptional leadership, lasting impact on education and distinguished professional achievements.

“I felt incredibly honored and, honestly, very grateful,” she said about learning of

the award. “My first thought was about the people who have been part of this journey

with me.

“No recognition like this happens in isolation,” Parham said. “It reflects the collective work of the teachers, staff, students and families I’ve had the privilege to serve alongside. It was a really meaningful moment.

“The University of Tennessee has played an important role in my journey, and I am honored to be included among such an outstanding group of individuals,” she added.

“Her induction into the Hall of Honor reflects not only her professional accomplishments, but also her continued commitment to excellence, service and leadership in education,” a press release stated.

For Parham, “It’s a reminder that the work we do every day matters,” she said. “Education is not always visible or celebrated in big ways, so this recognition reinforces the importance of staying focused on students, building strong school communities and leading with purpose.

“It also reminds me to keep growing and striving to do even better for the students and staff I serve,” Parham added.

The Hall of Honor is one of the university’s highest recognitions, reserved for individuals who have demonstrated excellence in their field and have made significant contributions to their profession and community, according to the press release.

“Parham’s induction places her among an elite group of leaders whose work reflects the very best of the University of Tennessee’s legacy,” it stated. “With more than two decades of experience in education, Parham currently serves as executive principal of Farragut Intermediate School, one of the highest-performing schools in the region.

In education for more than 20 years, “I have had the privilege of serving at Farragut Intermediate School for the past four years as executive principal,” Parham said.

Going forward, “my mission is to continue building a school where every student feels supported, challenged and known,” she said. “That means maintaining high expectations for both student learning and teacher growth while also focusing on the whole child.

“I want Farragut Intermediate to be a place where strong relationships, academic excellence and a sense of belonging are evident in everything we do,” Parham said.

“Under her leadership, the school has earned multiple state and national recognitions, including designation as a Reward School and ranking among the top elementary schools in Tennessee.

“Known for her unwavering commitment to student success, strong school culture and high-impact leadership, Parham has led initiatives that have significantly improved outcomes for all students, including measurable gains for students with disabilities and expanded opportunities through inclusive instructional practices,” the press release stated.

Parham holds a Bachelor of Science degree in communication from Florida State University, a Master of Science degree in education and Reading Specialist certification (pre-kindergarten through 12th grade) from the University of Tennessee, an Educational Specialist degree in curriculum and instruction from Lincoln Memorial University and an Educational Specialist degree in educational administration and leadership from the University of Tennessee.

“In addition to her work within the school, Parham is deeply engaged in the Farragut community and serves in leadership roles that extend her impact beyond the classroom,” the release continued. “Her dedication to building strong partnerships between schools, families and the community has become a hallmark of her leadership.”
