Knox County voters spoke in the Tuesday, May 5, election, making their choices for Knox County officials to carry on in 2026.

Two of those, Republican mayoral nominee Betsy Henderson and Sheriff-Elect Brent Gibson were elated Tuesday night, when they learned the results of the primary election.

“I’m thrilled with the results,” Henderson said Wednesday, May 6.

In their victory speeches, Henderson and Gibson expressed their appreciation to their families and supporters during the campaign.

“And, as we go forward into the general election, I need your support now more than ever,” Henderson said Tuesday. “We need your prayers, your support and your vote. Thank you so much, Knox County.”

In Gibson’s speech Tuesday, he told those supporters, “I’m so glad to call you my friends … We’re going to have a great time at the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. I’m so looking forward to it.”
