I appreciate the farragutpress and the stories they've done about the sewer leak at Founders Park. What's important to understand is even though Founders Park was roped off, no care or attention was given to the water at Turkey Creek Road where Farragut residents live. Neither First Utility District, the Town of Farragut, TDEC nor TWRA have been competent in protecting public health concerning the sewer line break of May 8. On May 21, 22 and 25, the water in front of Bridgewater, Inverness and Lake Haven on Turkey Creek Road was contaminated beyond the EPA E. coli contamination level. In fact, the level was contaminated at twice the EPA level where EPA requires the body of water to be closed. The Town of Farragut refused to act when First Utility District and TDEC failed to act. This has been a systemic combined failure in emergency management. Not only was the lake not closed, there were no warning signs about swimming or fishing. There has been a steady stream of misinformation, misdirection and PR spin from the Town of Farragut claiming this was up to First Utility District and TDEC to manage. So when First Utility District and TDEC failed to protect public health, what did the Town of Farragut do? They did nothing. Our Town needs new management.
