Rotary volunteers construct 72 beds through sleep in heavenly peace
“There are more than 150 kids in Knoxville today
who need beds,” RCF president Candace Viox said.
“We want to build as many beds as we can.”
SHP is an organization that provides beds for children who don’t have a bed. Led by RCF, the clubs contributed $18,500 for materials, according to Viox.
RCF received support from Knoxville Rotary, Knoxville Breakfast Rotary, Knoxville Volunteer Rotary, Bearden Rotary, Knoxville Sunset Rotary and Lenoir City Rotary.
The team project took place in conjunction with World Rotary Day and is the fifth year Rotarians have built these beds with SHP, said Tom Woodbery, Public Image chair.
“We extend special thanks to Mission of Hope for allowing us their indoor warehouse to stage the event,”
he said. “Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken supplied a great luncheon spread for volunteers.”
