More than 4,300 vote in Farragut

With 7 p.m., Friday, July 24, marking the halfway point of early voting, Knox County Election administrator Chris Davis has reported Monday that, so far, “a total of 22,971 early votes have been cast.”

An additional 1,413 votes have been cast by absentee ballot in nursing homes, he added.

Early voting continues until Saturday, Aug. 1, at 11 locations across the county, he said.

Then, Farragut registered voters will vote from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., on Election Day, Thursday, Aug. 6, at Farragut Middle School for Precincts 66 NE and 66 NW, Farragut High School for Precinct 66SW and Korean Church of Knoxville for Precinct 66SE.

“There are a total of 268,073 active registered voters in Knox County as of Saturday, July 25,” Davis said.

He reported, of those voters, there are 499 first-time voters — 205 Republicans, 280 Democrat and 14 general. The oldest voter is 102 years old, voting absentee by mail. He said the oldest person voting in person was 98 years old.

Comparing Farragut voters with city of Knoxville and Knox County, he reported there were 1,635 Republican ballots, 515 Democratic ballots and 36 general ballots in Farragut; 3,252 Republican ballots, 4,137 Democratic ballots and 119 general ballots in Knoxville; and 9,895 Republican ballots, 4,619 Democratic ballots and 176 general ballots in Knox County.

By age, there were 600 Republican ballots, 1,372 Democratic ballots and 22 general ballots for ages 18 to 34; 2,138 Republic ballots, 2,432 Democratic ballots and 52 General only ballots for ages 35 to 54; and 12,044 Republican ballots, 5,467 Democratic ballots and 257 general only ballots forages 55 and older.

The top eight precincts by ballots cast are: Precinct 66NW at Farragut Middle School, 909; Precinct 66SE at Korean Church of Knoxville, 820 ballots; Precinct 71 at Rocky Hill Elementary School, 699; Precinct 63 at Karns High School, 671; Precinct 67 Cedar Bluff Middle School at 646; Precinct 70E at Amherst Elementary School, 633; T-Precinct 59 at Bricey McCloud Elementary School, 616; and T-Precinct 81 at Gibbs Elementary School, 616 ballots.

Early voting turnout amounts in Farragut are 556 on July 17, 185 on July 18, 660 on July 20, 630 on July 21, 556 on July 22, 607 on July 23, 815 on July 24 and 297 on July 25. The numbers totaled 4,306, which is the second highest votes cast at a location. The highest votes cast in a location was Downtown West with 6,288 votes.

In 2022, there were 1,000 Knox County residents voting on the first day of early voting, according to Election Commission officials. At that time, there were 337 votes cast on the first day in Farragut.
