Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor,
During last week’s TOF BOMA meeting, Alderman LaCroix shared that he had intentionally used the TOF seal on his campaign material (He is running for the South Ward Alderman Seat). He acknowledged that it was unauthorized use of the town seal and that he would not do it again. (See minutes 6:30-11 in video https://farraguttn.portal.civicclerk.com/event/1809/media)
I think it was good for Alderman LaCroix to come clean; however, I wonder if he may have been more aware of the breach in protocol than he mentioned. Alderman LaCroix not only worked for the Town of Farragut for six years, but in Information Technology. I do not know the scope of his responsibilities, but as a manager I assume he was aware of the procedures or guidelines employees had to follow when publishing anything online. I find it disingenuous that Alderman LaCroix was not aware of breaking the TOF rules.
We need to show appreciation and support for our elected leaders but at the same time hold them accountable and expect them to always act with integrity and transparency. Joe fell short. That is disappointing.
Adam Atherton,
Farragut, TN
