Election results are in
The Town of Farragut voters spoke in the 2026 Election when they voted for Alex Cain as mayor, Joey Ruffalo as alderman for the North Ward 1 and Greg Wiberley as alderman for the South Ward 2.
Cain, currently a North Ward alderman, garnered 3,099 votes, 50.53 %, while his opponent, Louise Povlin, former vice mayor who received 3,034 votes, or 49.47 %).
“I don’t think it’s 100 percent set in yet, but I look at the last three to four months [and] it was an uphill battle from the beginning, an uphill challenge, but we had the outcome we wanted last night,” Cain said.
“It’s obviously a lot closer than you always want,” he said. You want a good cushion, but it feels good.”
In the North Ward 1 race, Ruffalo received 1,339 votes, or 51.58 %, while his opponent, Dian Hall, received 1,257 votes, or 48.42 %.
In the South Ward 2 race, Greg Wiberly received 1,516 votes, 51.79%, and his opponent, current Alderman Joe LaCroix received 1,411 votes or 48.21 %.
The aldermen candidates and Povlin could not be reached for comment at time of posting.
In the Knox County races, Republican Betsy Henderson defeated Democratic nominee Beau Hawk in the race for county mayor.
Henderson will replace Mayor Glenn Jacobs, another Republican, who has served since 2018. She previously served on the Knox County Board of Education, twice being elected as the Board’s chair. She won 52.47 % of the votes — 46,207 votes — compared to Hawk’s 41,853 votes.
“The American dream is alive and well,” Henderson said in her victory speech. “I’m deeply honored to be mayor-elect of Knox County, Tennessee.
After giving thanks, she said, “Who would have thought that the daughter of a Greek immigrant, who arrived on Ellis Island 50 years ago with $50 around his neck, would be standing before you today as mayor-elect of Knox County.
Also, in the county, Nick McBride won the county trustee seat with 48,197 votes (55.21%), defeating Stephen Hood, who had 39,098 votes (44.79 percent).
