• Priority Ambulance recently announced the appointment of Reginald James as regional president. With more than four decades of EMS leadership spanning frontline clinical care through executive operations, James will focus on leading Priority’s continued growth and standardization of behavioral health transport, expanding access to safe, timely and appropriate care for patients and communities nationwide.

James brings more than 40 years of emergency medical services experience, having served as an EMT, cardiac technician, paramedic, field training officer, supervisor, manager, director and executive. Most recently, he served as a senior executive with one of the country’s most innovative EMS providers with a focus on mobile integrated healthcare and community paramedicine.

 • University of Tennessee Medical has received a $7 million nonrecurring state appropriation to support its pursuit of National Cancer Institute designation, a critical step toward expanding access to advanced cancer care, research and prevention efforts across Tennessee.

The funding, appropriated through the Tennessee General Assembly to the Department of Health for a grant to UT Medical, represents a major investment in addressing one of the state’s most urgent health challenges.

• Young-Williams Animal Center recently hired Benny Carringer as vice president of advancement and marketing and Sarah Kaplan as marketing manager. 

Carringer is committed to community outreach and creating meaningful impact. He previously spent more than 15 years as nonprofit executive director with the Salvation Army with experience in public engagement, donor relationships and retention, budget management, strategic planning and grant writing. 

Kaplan previously spent five years as marketing manager for Knoxville Museum of Art and has expertise in brand strategy and management, strategic planning, content creation and community engagement.
