Lady Bulldogs rely on youth, chemistry this season
When they do, there will be a noticeable difference from years’ past.
But there will be similar traits to the other BHS teams Davidson has coached, too.
This will be the youngest team she has led at Bearden, as 21 of the 27 players are underclassmen. The Lady Dawgs will feature just four seniors and two juniors, giving Davidson plenty of youth this season.
“We’re pretty young,” she said. “We lost a lot of key players, and our seniors were a big part of our success last year. But I want them to go compete, no matter the age or size. I want them to take that
mentality, and we’ve shown that this summer. They don’t let their age or experience determine how they will play on the court.”
The Lady Bulldogs will combine that approach with some returning experience, starting with returning middle hitter Lyla Sutton.
“She played a big part for us last year,” Davidson said. Fellow senior Addy Mahan will play outside, and transfer Gracie Scotto brings in more outside experience.
Freshman Maci Aylor will play a big part of the BHS defense, while sophomore Camila Gil will take up the Libero spot with Karis McGaha available as a setter and swinger.
“She is a well-rounded player who the team depends on quite a bit, so I am really excited to see our sophomore class,” Davidson said of her team, which begins its 2026 season on Monday, Aug. 17, against Gibbs.
“I think we will have a successful season. We are not the powerhouse we have been, but the scrappiness and chemistry will carry us.”
