Dog Daze splashing in for 10th year
Dog Daze, presented by First Century Bank and the Town of Farragut, will take place Friday, Aug. 21, to Sunday, Aug. 23, in the parking lot stretching from Planet Fitness to Hallmark.
The event is put on by Shop Farragut/Farragut Business Alliance (FBA), which prepares well in advance each year.
“I think it’s going to be one of the biggest Dog Daze we have ever had,” Shop Farragut/FBA executive director Ashley Lynch said.
Currently, the list of vendors and sponsors exceeds 50.
Since Lynch was named the executive director in April 2026, she has learned the ropes in a hurry while preparing for the big weekend.
“It’s a definite learning curve, but it’s okay,” she said. “I’ve done events here at the Pinnacle for years, so that helps me adjust, adapt and punt for whatever is needed. It’s taken a couple months to get my feet wet, but I think I’ve got a pretty good handle on it right now.”
This year’s event will include dock dogs competitions, local vendors, live music, food trucks and plenty of dog-friendly activities.
Lynch noted there will be a trolley system picking up attendees at a designated area and dropping them off
for the event, making more space for the dogs and their owners around the competition area.
“It will help a lot,” she said. “There won’t be an overcrowd of cars.”
That Friday, Aug. 21, will feature qualifying with Duel 1 and Duel 2 with dueling dogs finals at 6:30 p.m.
The next day, Aug. 22, the Big Air Wave 1 will start at 10 a.m. with the Big Air Wave 2 at noon, the Big Air Wave 3 at 2 p.m. and the speed retrieve competition at 4 p.m.
The final day, Aug. 23, will be even more enticing.
“Another fun, full day of competitions between the dogs, and the finals will be that afternoon starting at 3 p.m.,” Lynch said.
She noted DockDogs handles the booking while Lynch has prepared in a multitude of ways.
“We’re working on kids zones and splash pads,” she said, “and we want to have items to keep dogs cool, making it more comfortable for owners and dogs since it’s always hot in August.”
