Farragut alumni come together for Homecoming
The event was started by Leann Mowery and Natalie Sisk — both in the class of 1978 — and 1977 FHS graduate Rena Amerson.
Attendees munched on free hot dogs and cookies as they reconnected with classmates from years’ past.
“We do it because we hope people will come that are alumni,” Amerson said. “You never know who will be here. so you don’t know if there will be 10 or 40. So then we also take donations for people who come, and that is how we have kept it going this long. We just do it for everybody. Myself, Natalie Sisk and Leann are a part of the Farragut Alumni Association, and so that’s how we got started.”
Amerson noted this is not the only alumni gathering through the year, as they host different events the day after Christmas, too.
“We all still have families here or have moved back here,” she said. “I’ve been here since the fourth grade, but we all want to get everyone together and keep in touch. That’s been the best part of this event — we don’t know who’s going to show up.
“When we were here in the ‘70’s, we were such a close-knit community, so we’re trying to keep it that way.”
