Cedar Springs homeschool students recently placed 35th overall in the nation at the Science Olympiad national tournament held at the University of California. Among those on hand for the competition were: top row, from left, Caleb Story, Eli Shelton, Ryan Durham, Brextyn Poetzel, Avery Tyler, Jesse Boyle, Rory Ferguson, Evan Aubuchon, Jayson Wang; bottom row, head coach Meryl Van Der Merwe, Sianna Krause, Lucy Blessinger, Charlotte Rachlin, Maggie Mae Buschle, Hannah Harris and coach Lea Bosse. “The students had a great time and won our team’s first-ever gold medal at Nationals,” said Lauren Krause, a Cedar Springs parent. “Charlotte Rachlin, a resident of Farragut, and her partner, Jayson Wang, won first place at nationals in the Water Quality event. Our Tennessee team placed 35th overall in the nation, an increase of four places over their performance last year.”
