• SLOAN, Richard A.,

age 62, of Farragut, TN went to be with his Lord early Friday morning, October 18, 2013 at Parkwest Medical Center. Richard was a member of First Baptist Concord. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Richard was a 1969 graduate of Travelers Rest High School in South Carolina. He also attended North Greenville University and earned a BA at Mars Hills College. Richard obtained his Master of Religious Education from Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. As an ordained minister, he dedicated his life to serving the Lord in churches throughout Tennessee. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Fay Sloan. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Pat Sloan; children and families, Stephen, Emile, Drew, Cooper and Molly Sloan, Laura Sloan, Michael Sloan; sister, Sandra Anderson and husband, Tony Anderson; nieces, Beth Anderson, Julie Simoneaux and the Marguerat and Nelson nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Monday, October, 21, 2013 with a Celebration of Life to follow at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of First Baptist Church Concord where Richard and Pat were married. • HARLOW, Lela Brenan,

of Farragut, passed away in her sleep Tuesday morning, October 8, 2013, after a long illness. Mrs. Harlow was a life-long member of Fourth Presbyterian Church where she taught children’s Sunday School classes and was a leader in women’s organizations. She was a community volunteer (working as a Red Cross volunteer in Far-ragut sch-ools for many years and a Farragut City museum volunteer). She also gre-eted hundreds of new Farr-agut residents as a Welcome Wagon hostess for eleven years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Vassie Brenan, and sister Zelma Brenan. She is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Harold Harlow, retired Knoxville News-Sentinel Associate Editor. Son, Eugene and wife Sherry of Nashville, daughter, Mary Lee Bigger and husband Nathan of Cary, NC, son, Alan Harlow of Farragut, and daughter, Carol Bailey and husband Phillip of Tullahoma, TN. Five grandchildren: Brenan, Caroline, Katie Jo, Cora Ann Bailey and Kaitlin Bigger. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2013, at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Glenna B. Manning officiating. The family and friends will meet at 1:15 p.m. Monday, October 14, 2013, at Lynnhurst Cemetery for an 1:30 p.m. interment service. • KISNER, Odessa Fisher,

age 104 of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Mt. Storm, WV, Arlington, VA and Washin-ton, DC, went to be with the Lord Thursday, October 10, 2013. Odessa was the oldest member of Christ Cove-nant Presb-yterian Chu-rch in Farr-agut. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray M. Kisner. Odessa is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Mary Ann Kisner; grandson, Jason Kisner and wife, Karen; great-granddaughter, Mary Hazel Kisner; granddaughter, Julie Kisner McD-aniel and husband, David; great-granddaughter, Ja-ylen McDaniel; siblings and spouses, Jua-nita and Eugene More-land of Mt. Storm, WV and Charles and Lorelle Fisher of Alexandria, VA. Special thanks to Odessa’s caretaker, Wanda Jeffries and neighbors, Kathi Trivette, Carl Trivette and Maria and John Peach. A Celebration of Life will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2013 at Christ Covenant Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jim Barnes officiating. • STOCKELAND, Leona Virginia,

age 95 of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Omaha, NE went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 from her home at NHC Assisted Living. Leona was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Carrie Snowden; sisters, Bernice Hanson and Eileen Grisham; brother, Tootie Snowden; husband, Gordon Stockeland. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Steve Lambson of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Sarah Lambson, Emily Lambson and Nicholas Lambson, all of Knoxville; Zach Lambson and wife Rebecca of Colorado Springs, CO,; sister, Gwen Vrbka of Seward, NE; many nieces and nephews. The family expresses their deepest appreciation to the staff of NHC Farragut for their compassionate care of Leona since 2005.
